Tips for a Successful Wedding Makeup Trial

Makeup trials are crucial to ensuring your wedding day makeup is exactly how you want it! We’ll take our time to go over exactly what look you’re going for, any concerns you have, and make sure we’re tweaking your makeup look so that it makes you look and feel BOMB AF.

Here are some tips from my years of experience as a makeup artist to help you have a successful trial!

1) Try to make your trial appointment the same day as your engagement photos

This will help you see what your makeup looks like in photos and test the longevity of the makeup by having you wearing it out and about all day!

2) Drink lots of water and get plenty of rest the night before

This helps your skin be the most hydrated, glowy, and awake for your trial!

3) Come with inspo pictures

This helps us get on the same page in terms of what you’re looking for! Your definition of “natural” or “smokey eye” can be vastly different from mine. Inspo pictures helps me visualize exactly what you want to communicate.

4) Communicate & be honest

This is YOUR wedding makeup and I PROMISE - you will not hurt my feelings if there’s something you don’t like! It is my job to use my professional expertise to guide you and give you the makeup look of your dreams, while still listening to you and helping you create the look you want. If there’s something you don’t like, I won’t know unless you tell me! Makeup wipes off and we start over - it’s no biggie!

5) Keep an eye on your makeup

After your trial, keep an eye on your makeup throughout the day. At the end of the night, check-in with your face. What does it look like? Is there anything you don’t like? Let’s chat and see if we need to make any adjustments for your wedding day!
